The Spaniard made comments publicly last week that were intending to unsettle Jermain Defoe. Benitez has been reported by Spurs to the Premier League for the remarks made.
The Liverpool coach aimed to justify his remarks by suggesting they were no different to genuine interest made by Spurs back in January when the club contacted the agent of Djibril Cisse over a possible loan agreement for the player until the end of the season.
Martin Jol has since made the point he was only interested in Cisse during the winter transfer window.
Parry said: "They are making the point they're not interested in our player and we are not interested in theirs."
