Pleat's delight

Pleat took his unbeaten run to three games since being put in charge following the sacking of Gleen Hoddle last month and his decision to revert to a 4-4-2 formation as seen Spurs keep three clean sheets in those games too.

Pleat insisted Kanoute's tremendous goal was the turning point of the game when he said: "His goal inspired the win. If we had gone in at half time level it would have given them a real boost.

"The players know when they play well and from one-to-eleven we were quite good as a group today.

"I drove along the High Road on my way here and could see people who desperately wanted us to win today and we did it with a bit of style."
