Postiga going nowhere

He has been labelled the new Sergei Rebrov, the man who has cost Spurs large amounts of money, and has shown no signs of justifying the price tag. This is how the press have seen things, but most Spurs fans will tell you that Helder Postiga has talent, and lots of it. He has shown flashes of genius in his limited appearances for the club and has been unlucky on a few occasions, notably David James' superb save in last weeks Carling Cup clash. There have been reports that the Potruguese international was to make a dramatic return to his former club FC Porto, but Postiga has denied any such suggestions.

'First of all, I want to say that any rumours suggesting I want to leave are not true', he told the London Evening Standard. He admitted that he was finding it hard to adapt to the English lifestyle, simply because it was the first time that he has lived away from home, something that any youngster would find tough. He denied that he felt pressure due to being unable to break his goalscoring duck and believes that the team comes first, 'If Tottenham play well and win the game, that is more important for me'. He also noted that the game here is more physical and a lot quicker to what he is used to back in Portugal.

It seems that Postiga is aware of the difficulties he faces while trying to settle in and adapt to the English lifestyle and game of football, but with his head in the right place, who knows, the ball might just come off it, and end the struggle for goals.
