Rebrov could leave on a 'free'

According to world soccer governing body FIFA regulations, if Rebrov is not involved in 10 percent of Tottenham's first-team fixtures he can make a request to FIFA's Dispute Resolution Chamber that his contract be cancelled.

Rebrov has not played a single first-team game for Spurs this season and has made just 20 starts since joining the club for a club record £11 million in June 2000.

"The player must make a request to the Dispute Resolution Chamber and they will then say whether a player can breach their contract or not," a FIFA spokesman told Reuters, when asked if Rebrov could leave Tottenham for free.

"This (clause) can only be used at the end of the season. The player cannot just say 'I've played in less than 10 per cent of the games this season - I'm leaving'.

"That (the Dispute Resolution Chamber) is the only way it can be done."

FIFA introduced this new regulation in September 2001.
