Sunderland and Manchester City have been beaten to the Irishman's signature by the south London outfit.
Jason Burt in The Independent today wrote: ‘Manchester City are considering a bid for Tottenham Hotspur's Andy Reid, although they may be unwilling to meet the £3m asking price. Reid does not figure in manager Martin Jol's plans.'
The official website has reported that, ‘the club can announce the transfer of Andy Reid to Charlton Athletic.'
