Robinson leaves for Rovers

Paul Robinson, England's former number one goalkeeper, signed for Blackburn Rovers this evening in a deal worth £3.5m.

Robinson, who endured a torrid season last year, becomes new Blackburn boss Paul Ince's first summer signing. Rovers 'keeper Brad Friedal is currently in talks with Aston Villa and Ince has been quick to sign Robinson to replace the American.

Robinson enjoyed two good seasons at White Hart Lane and his outstanding form in the 05-06 campaign helped the club finish fifth. He will also be fondly remembered for his goal against Watford last season. His departure leaves Ben Alnwich as new signing Gomes' main deputy, with the Juande Ramos likely to bring in another keeper to provide competition for the Brazilian.
