Spurs 0 - DC United 1 [Tribute Match]

Last updated : 18 October 2002 By SpursMAD

In a game arranged by the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust to help former players who have fallen on hard times, Teddy Sheringham partnered Jurgen Klinsmann in the Spurs attack once more - the pair having scored over 50 goals between them in 1994-95.

There were others players too who hold a place in Spurs fans' hearts, Paul Gascoigne, Chris Waddle, Clive Allen and David Ginola amongst them and the Double-winning manager Bill Nicholson was there, saluting the crowd at half-time.

Ginola was probably the brightest of the former Spurs stars and Gascoigne, who nearly joined the American club earlier this season, looked in good shape.

Wade Barrett scored a simple goal for DC United in the 84th minute.
