Spurs determined to keep Kane

Kane is regarded as one of the most highly rated forwards in the Barclays Premier League after his goalscoring exploits with Spurs this season.

The 21-year-old has scored 30 goals for the club this term and he took just 79 seconds to find the net on his England debut against Lithuania in March.

Manchester United have been linked with a move for the Tottenham academy graduate, but Press Association Sport understands the London club are not interested in selling the player.

Kane signed a new five-and-a-half-year deal in February and there is no sign that the player himself or Tottenham are ready to part ways.

United underlined their willingness to spend on Thursday when executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward told investors that the club would be "active" in the transfer market this summer.

Louis van Gaal has spent over £150million on seven new signings since he was appointed manager, but United's £750million kit deal with adidas means the Dutchman has money to spend this summer.

United have already signed winger Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven for £25million and they are also in the market for a dynamic midfielder.

They need reinforcements up front after a poor collective showing from their strikers this season and additions are also required in defence.

United are understood to be interested in signing Gareth Bale from Real Madrid if he becomes available, but sources close to the player insist the Welshman is going nowhere despite his indifferent form for the Spanish giants.
