Gomes, the Portugal international who scored the winning goal against England 2 years ago in Euro 2000, has been linked heavily with a move to London over the past number of months, and the club's sports director Giuseppe Pavone has confirmed Spurs' interest in the player.

"We're talking with Spurs and there could be developments in the next few days. At this moment nothing is settled" confirmed Pavone.

The player has also been linked with a return to former club Benfica on a loan basis, but Fiorentina do not favour that type of deal.

"We don't want to loan the player as Benfica want," Pavone said. "We won't change our position on that. We'll sell the player if we receive a good offer"

Gomes' club, Fiorentina are keen to sell their top players in an attempt to raise much needed revenue, with the Italian B Side in major financial problem that has also seen the likes of Rui Costa and Gabriel Batistuta leave over the last couple of years.
