Spurs to appeal Davies red-card

Last updated : 16 November 2002 By SpursMAD
The Spurs midfielder was dismissed for what the referee deemed to be two bookable offences although television replays clearly show Davies made minimal contact with Arsenal full-back Ashley Cole to earn his first yellow card.

"The referee has got to have a look at it and change his decision," said Hoddle.

"He made a mistake and I would hope common sense will prevail because there is no way Simon made contact with Ashley Cole for the first booking.

"We shall stand our ground because it was an injustice that deserves to get turned over. We shall definitely have a word with the referee.

"That hurt us, because although we were already 1-0 down it was after only 26 minutes and anything can happen in these derbies, so we could have got back in the game."
