Spurs topple gutsy Wigan

The only criticism of Wigan would be a shortage of real creativity in midfield and a failure to use Camara's pace enough in attack, reported The People today.

Jewell groaned: "If you make a mistake at this level you get punished. We gifted them a goal and we chased the game. We did all right but their keeper did not have much to save.

"We just lacked the quality in the end to hurt them. We've just got to cut out the mistakes."

Jol agreed: "Maybe it wasn't our best performance but then you can look at the fact that we didn't give away any chances.

"This is a place that is not easy to win at, but in the first half we took the initiative and then we had the quality combined with maximum effort to get a result.

"You have to win all your battles and we did that."
