Stylish Spurs suited to Europe

"Before the start of the group stages, you would have thought nine points would have been enough to win the group," said assistant coach Chris Hughton.

Ledley King and Tom Huddlestone reflected on those nine points out of nine so far in the group stages of the UEFA Cup, requiring a point tonight against Dinamo Bucharest to avoid a potential next round meeting with a side eliminated from the Champions League.

Huddlestone said: "It was a different type of football but, with the players we've got, it suited us as well. I think it's been a welcome distraction from the league, where our form has just about got where it should be."

"We did get quite a tough draw in the group yet we've won our first three. I didn't really imagine that we would have maximum points at this stage, but Newcastle didn't have the best of league starts like us and have also been on fire in Europe."

King said: "Maybe the players we've got and style we play has suited European competition. We've enjoyed it so far, I wouldn't say we were surprised at how it has gone, but we're pleased."

"Danny Murphy said Dinamo are a very good side," added Ledley King.

Huddlestone added: "When I was at Wolves, Dinamo's Romanian front man Ionel Ganea was one of the main reasons I got my first goal when I went back to Derby. He played me a little back heel straight into my path.

"He was injured when I first got there - they had strikers such as Leon Clarke, Carl Cort and Kenny Miller so it was difficult for the manager to bring him in when they were doing well. But when he played he did very well and looked good.
