Tabloid tales: Jenas in, Kanoute out

Levy has taken on the temporary role of seeking out young, relatively inexperienced English players himself, starting with his attempt to sign Jermain Jenas from Newcastle United. That move would leave Martin Jol with a further option to contend with in midfield – a luxury you might say.

A lot was said about the rotation policy among the forwards and how Jol would struggle to keep Tottenham’s four strikers happy following the arrival of Mido at the beginning of the year. Although the Egyptian’s own fitness problems made that job easier.

Fredi Kanoute is quoted in The Sun newspaper today insisting: "In football you can't take anything for granted." He doesn't warm to the prospect of being part-exchanged involving a move to St James Park.

"When there is a problem with Fredi he will walk into my office and want to talk about it. I am happy with him and I am perfectly happy for him to stay," said Jol in the Daily Mail on Friday.

With 12 days to go before Chelsea visit White Hart Lane in the Premiership Levy is still to improve the squad with the money received for Arnesen's departure.
