Taricco will be out of contract in the summer and he has yet to be offered a new deal by Spurs.
"If things are going well for me at Tottenham, I may not want to leave," he told the London Evening Standard.
"But the club may not want me, in which case I would like to play in Italy.
"I proved myself in Argentina and feel I have proved I can play at the top in England, so it would be nice to test myself in Italy and see if I could do it there.
"My father is from Italy and I will live there at the end of my career, in a small village in Sardinia."
