Harry Redknapp has today ruled himself out of the reckoning for the vacant managerial post at Spurs. However, Redknapp who is the father of club captain Jamie, admitted that managing Spurs is, 'A great opportunity for someone to go there and turn it around'. He added, in the words of Yazz and the Plastic Population, 'The only way is up'. He admitted that Spurs are a club with huge potential, that could return to former glories with the right man at the helm.

Redknapp likened the situation at White Hart Lane to the one he faced on arrival at Fratton Park. He said, 'Last year I took over a club going nowehere, always finishing in the bottom six of the first division and now we're in the Premiership'. While Spurs have not been finsihing in the lower regions of division one, they have not been fulfilling their obvious potential. In closing, Redknapp confirmed his position at Portsmouth by stating, 'I don't want to go anywhere'.
