However, two players signed in the summer have indicated in their native media that neither have taken too kindly to treatment from Arnesen since Tottenham's recent new signings made competition for places commonplace. At present the club also have six senior squad members on loan at various clubs scattered throughout the football league. "You are always scouting. If he goes, who do we buy? If something happens to him, where do we look? "My job is to make sure I have a shadow list and it is one of the jobs that's most important," said Arnesen.

Wideman Rohan Ricketts has struggled to earn a first team place at Spurs in recent months. As a result the youngster became the latest to be loaned out, in a provisional one month switch to Wolves where he teams up with Glenn Hoddle who took the player from Arsenal to Tottenham in 2002.

"I know the lad very well, he has got a lot of talent and he can improve further.

"He can play in all the positions across the midfield so he will be a versatile addition to the squad," said the Wolves boss.

Hungarian Under-21 keeper Marton Fulop is furthest out of London at League One side Chesterfield. Fulop went straight into the Chesterfield side that beat Huddersfield 2-1 that moved them marginally into the top half of the table.

"I was pleased with him, he did very well. Overall his handling was excellent and his presence was there for all to see," said Chesterfield boss Roy McFarland.

Following an impressive debut last week reserve striker Barnard would have felt a little aggrieved to be an unused substitute in the Cobblers surprise 3-2 defeat at Rushden on Saturday. The Cobblers, who signed Andy Kirk from Boston United last week, a forward with 21 goals in League Two so far this season, are in ninth place still hoping to reach the play offs by the end of the season.

Johnnie Jackson is playing in the centre of midfield for Ray Lewington's Watford who haven't won a Championship game in four and remain dangerously close to the drop zone.

Meanwhile, Calum Davenport remains at Southampton as Harry Redknapp's side battle to stay afloat in the Premier League, and 20-year-old striker Jamie Slabber is on loan at Swindon Town, who are mid-table in League One.
