Tottenham keeping tabs on West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone

West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is understood to be on the wish list of Tottenham as the club go in search of a replacement for Hugo Lloris.

Club captain Lloris has been a mainstay of the Spurs starting XI since his arrival in north London nearly nine years ago, racking up more than 350 appearances in all competitions.

A number of costly individual errors have marred his time at the club in recent years and with the Frenchman turning 35 later this year, the Tottenham hierarchy are understood to be keen to line up his replacement.

Number two shot-stopper Paulo Gazzaniga is also expected to leave this summer meaning Spurs could be on the hunt for two new goalkeepers, and The Athletic report that West Brom's Johnstone is just one of the names on their list of potential arrivals.

The former Manchester United man has enjoyed a stellar first campaign in the Premier League this season, playing every minute of the Baggies' league outings bar one game which he was forced to miss after contracting coronavirus.

Despite shipping 57 goals in the league so far he's earned plaudits for his displays and was called up to Gareth Southgate's England squad for the recent March internationals, though he failed to win his first cap.

The report adds that Johnstone is expected to be available at a relatively cheap price, and if the Baggies go on to be relegated from the Premier League this season - something which looks increasingly likely - Spurs could have a bargain on their hands.

Johnstone's England goalkeeping colleagues Nick Pope and Dean Henderson are also being monitored by Spurs with a view to a potential summer move, though the latter of the two seems unlikely given his status as number one at Manchester United over the past few weeks.
