Tottenham's Europa League tie with Wolfsberger moved to Budapest

The first leg of Tottenham Hotspur's Europa League tie with Wolfsberger has been moved to the Puskas Arena in Budapest.

Spurs were scheduled to Austria for the first leg of their round-of-32 tie on February 18, but those plans were thrown up in the air after the Austrian government imposed a ban on flights from the United Kingdom because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Rumours of the fixture being moved to Russia emerged quickly, but Spurs confirmed on their official website that the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary, has been chosen to host the game, which will still kick off at 17:55 (GMT).

Fixtures across both the Champions League and Europa League are being relocated left, right and centre recently, with the Puskas Arena being selected as the new host of a handful of the games in question.

Leipzig vs Liverpool was the first fixture to move to Budapest, with Gladbach vs Manchester City following suit soon after.

The other Champions League game to be moved was Atletico Madrid's 'home' tie with Chelsea, which will now be played at the Arena Nationala in Bucharest, Romania.

As for the Europa League, Manchester United's trip to Real Sociedad has been moved to the Juventus Stadium in Turin, and joining them in Italy will be Arsenal, who were expecting to travel to Benfica but will instead play at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

The return leg of that Arsenal game has also been moved, with the two sides swapping the Emirates Stadium for the Stadio Georgios Karaiskakis in Piraeus, Greece. It's all getting a little tricky to keep up with now.

Back with Spurs, they must first navigate a tricky meeting with Premier League leaders Manchester City before they can even start to think about Wolfsberger.

The second leg of the round-of-32 tie is still scheduled to be played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but given the state of things at the minute, it wouldn't be a surprise to see it moved to a different corner of the world.
