Jol and Arnesen question the lengthy process of the UEFA Cup.

The club's Director of Sport, Frank Arnesen has also announced the club will not be participating in next season’s Intertoto Cup – which along with gaining a fair play award constitutes alternative routes into next season’s UEFA Cup draw beyond a top six or seven Premiership finish this term.

"For us now it's a big thing to play for Europe. But it's not about Europe, it's about what we achieve. If you qualify through the Premiership, it means you have got decent points total.

"But it is about a process. Next year, maybe we can challenge for the first four. If we can get to the Champions League, then of course it is different," said head coach Martin Jol.
