Calum Davenport played ninety minutes for England as they kept a clean sheet in Herning. The former Coventry youngster partnered Spurs colleague Michael Dawson in central defence in the first half before Anton Ferdinand came on with the second round of Premiership games looming at the weekend.

Two converted penalty kicks by former Cork City striker Kevin Doyle rescued a draw for the Republic of Ireland after they had trailed by two goals in Belfast. Doyle, who joined early Championship high-flyers Reading in the summer, made his debut at the Madejski at the end of last month against a Spurs side that featured Republic captain Stephen Kelly.
