What Could Awards Mean For Gareth Bales Tottenham Future

With news coming through today that Gareth Bale has won the Football Writer?s Association Player of the Year award, to add to the PFA Player and Young Player of the Year awards already gained by the Welshman this season, one cannot help but wonder where the wing wizard goes from here.

With Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona both being linked to Bale in recent seasons, along with Inter, Bayern and PSG, it?s safe to say that Bale?s stock was already quite high.

Although both he and Tottenham Hotspur remain publicly adamant that a transfer is off the cards, there will surely be some big offers sent over to Spurs HQ, and their resolve will be stretched to its limits if they are indeed to keep hold of the former Southampton man.

Spurs will know that failure to secure a top four finish will all but seal Bale?s transfer out of the club. On the other hand, they will have cause for hope should they finish in a qualifying spot for the Champion?s League. The lure of Champions League football is certainly very strong, but whether their talisman would leave the club when it is already available to him is far from certain.

It is certain that the club will be faced with some difficult decisions over the summer, and with interest reignited in Internacional?s Leandro Damiao it is likely that Daniel Levy et al. have already accepted the very real possibility that the Welshman will seek a transfer from the club he has called home since 2007. The final decision lies with the man himself and potential silverware could be enough drag him away from his beloved Tottenham, even if he does so with a heavy heart.
