Who is the referee for Tottenham vs Milan?

Tottenham host Milan at home in the Champions League this week knowing they have a 1-0 deficit to overcome and, as ever, the referee will be a key figure on the pitch.

There has, of course, been a bit of a history of feisty encounters between these two sides, with former Spurs coach Joe Jordan and ex-Milan midfield star Gennaro Gattuso almost coming to blows.

We are probably not expecting anything like that this time around, but who will be the referee charged with controlling it if there is?

Who is the referee for Tottenham vs Milan?

Clement Turpin (FRA) will take charge of the Tottenham vs Milan second leg in the last 16 of the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The prominent French referee has been listed by FIFA since 2010 and has been the man in the middle for some major contests throughout his career. Turpin has refereed at two World Cups and two European Championships, and was in charge of the 2021 Europa League final as well as the 2022 Champions League final.

The 40-year-old has taken charge of 542 games in his career, 257 of which were Ligue 1 bouts and 40 were Champions League fixtures.

Clement Turpin record in Tottenham games

Turpin has taken charge of just three Tottenham games in his career, with Spurs winning just once. Their sole victory arrived during the 2017/18 group stage when they beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 at Signal Iduna Park.

The Frenchman oversaw their late defeat in their 2018/19 group stage opener at Inter Milan, during which he booked Michel Vorn, Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen, before taking charge of the infamous 7-2 thrashing at the hands of Bayern Munich a season later.

The north London side were 4-1 down when Turpin handed Tottenham a penalty which Harry Kane converted, with the French referee handing out yellow cards to Kane and Tanguy Ndombele amid their beatdown.
