Why Glenn Hoddle would be a disaster for Spurs

With this in mind it is shocking that Glenn Hoddle is being seriously linked with a return to the London Club. This is not because he has been out of the game for a number of years. Or because, he has already had a go at Spurs and failed. It is because his teams play negative dull football.

The player Glenn Hoddle might have been a scion of the beautiful game. As a manager his style is all about keeping things tight.

As a Wolves fan I experienced this first hand. In the lower leagues there is no reason for a team such as Wolves to be afraid of having a go against teams at home. At the Molineux Glenn Hoddle played a 38 year old Paul Ince and Seyi Olofinjana as joint defensive midfielders.

For those of you who never saw Paul Ince in the later stages of his illustrious career lets just say he wasn?t the most mobile of players and Olofinjana made him look like the roadrunner.

Hoddle sat these two guys in ten yards in front of the back four and they didn?t move. Predictably Wolves drew 34 of his 76 games in charge or 44.7%. I understand that Hoddle didn?t have the best tools at Wolves but he could have constructed a team with more attacking threat if that was what he believed in.

If he gets the job back at Tottenham prepare for lots of draws Spurs fans.
