Spurs boss Glenn Hoddle is believed to be interested in the 22-year-old forward but the club have denied that they have made a bid for the player.
"He is just one of a number of players that we are monitoring," a spokesman told the Spurs official website.
"However we have not made any offer despite typical press speculation claiming that we have already made an approach with a very low bid.
"If and when we do decide to put in an offer we will talk direct with Brighton and not via the media."
