Ziege chooses club over country

Ziege, who has been sidelined with a calf injury, came through his second reserve game against Charlton earlier this week and is now looking to prove his fitness to boss Glen Hoddle in the hope of getting back into first team contention.

"No, I am not travelling," he said.

"It was a bit 'going' and then 'not going'. It is better for me to stay here but, obviously, the German team wanted me there as well for the game.

"I should have gone for one day but I spoke to Rudi Voller and, thanks to him, he said it would be more stress for me to go there and come back.

"He said it is okay and I should stay here and have my game."
