Ziege injury shock

Ziege suffered a dead leg against Charlton prior to his sending-off and manager Glenn Hoddle told his long time friend Waddle that the injury was more serious than first thought.

"It was quite worrying," Waddle told www.bbc.co.uk. "The club got a call at one o'clock in the morning after the game saying his leg was twice the size it should be.

"The doctor was very worried and they took him into hospital.

"Spurs were saying maybe Ziege could have lost his leg and the operation was so vital and important at the time.

"They don't know exactly how long he will be out. They think it could be four to five months but the club are waiting on news.

"But they were very, very worried and it was just off a simple dead leg."

German international Ziege has only recently returned to the Spurs after almost two months out with a calf injury.
