The German defender, who suffered a career threatening thigh injury during the Premiership game with Charlton on Boxing Day, also got his name on the scoresheet in the friendly on Monday.

"I think it was a bit of luck!" Ziege told the Spurs official website.

"It was a good ball from Jamie (Redknapp) and I hit it in the right manner.

"I'm more pleased that I've played after four months for 45 minutes and that everything is going in the right direction. I hope I can keep going now and we'll see.

"It is nice, I can go home and say I scored in the first game. Nice for me but, like I said, I am just happy that I can play on the pitch, I can run and kick the ball - that is good for me at the moment.

"In the beginning you are a bit worried. Your movement - running and walking - is completely different from before when you start your rehab. Now it is coming back, but there is still a lot to do. I am just happy.

"It would be dream to finish the season on the pitch after the four months I've had. I hope I am over everything and I can keep looking forward."
