Bentaleb Impressed

The U21 captain was a little bit of a surprise inclusion for me, however Sherwood was worked with the youngster and knew what he could bring to the team.

The youngster finished as one of Spurs top 5 performers under the Squawka point system.

He was composed on the ball, unaffected by the stage or level of game he had entered.

However what is more of surprise is why he was given the opportunity over, Holtby and Capoue. After being given such huge negative exposure to his substitution of Ade against West Ham Capoue not coming on was expected, but Holtby?

Seeing how well the youngster performed it is of no surprise that he came on. The club has waited for the right time for his inclusion and I would welcome his presence going forward.

More worrying for Holtby is that he and Capoue were involved in the reserves game against Brighton (which the only played for half of).

All this is great news for competition within the squad as Holtby was coming back in and the preferred 2 defensive midfielders that AVB favored is now out of the window. So it's not just Capoue and Holtby that should be concerned, it’s the midfielders in general.

Considering Bentaleb's performance I could see Sherwood including him in the starting lineup against West Brom.
