Defoe our own Patchwork Quilt!

Last updated : 30 January 2013 By Hog

Defoe has been patched up more times than your child’s favorite tebby bear! The poor guy has been relied on so heavily that he has had to go under numerous treatments to stay on the pitch!

JD has been playing with an injury as far back as last year! This shows clearly why his form has dropped and why it is a bad decision to do it again and expect him to soldier on!

This is clearly a lack of respect for the players by Mr Levy and you can blame AVB, but if Levy says no new forwards and AVB tells the squad I would like to think that JD stepped up and said patch me up boys I'll play on.

JD is desperate to have his best ever season and with the start he had its no wonder he wants to finish in style! But his ambition and drive is what will halt it short.

Not only do we need a new striker (at least one), but we need to have the respect for our players and not expect them to put themselves through this type of mess. If we had of invested wisely in the summer we would never of had to put JD in this position in the first place. You can try and blame AVB all you want, but he had a list, gave it Levy and he in turn added it to his toilet roll!

The one thing that angers me in all of this is that JD was doing so well and because Levy did not protect his squad enough by making the right decisions in the summer we are now damaging our players, potentially for the long term.

We all love to see heart, commitment, courage and strength, but we should not expect our players to cause permanent injury to themselves as the guy’s at the top refuse to put their almost none existent arms into their very deep pockets. Don't give me stadium money, that is being raised from various funds and sponsorships! That’s why its taking so long. Levy is trying to spend other peoples money rather than our own (please tell me you knew that!).

Either way there is a dark cloud circling above Levy at the moment and I hope that it rains all over him, maybe the cold water will wake him up, maybe then he will see the mistakes right in front of him.

Whether JD starts tonight or not I wish him all the best and really do hope that he does this for all the right reasons and isn't putting himself at risk!

In terms of tonight though 1-2, it will be a tight win for us, but it'll be a fight we know we have to win at all costs to stay in 4th!
