Jermain Defoe has issued a big warning to the club, play me or sell me, but why now?
It would make sense for Defoe to make the comment if he was not the only striker the club currently has at its disposal, but why would such a comment be made now.
Either way after scoring 17 goals last season I believe that the player has done enough to warrant a place in the England squad as well in the Tottenham squad (it was his forth best season on goals scored in 9 years at the club). In my honest opinion once other strikers come in, I would be happy playing the Solskjaer role, being the impact player that is always in need to change any game (its a great honour, which guarantee's you game time). Although many will argue just remember, Solskjaer made his career at Utd in this role and was still seen as a great striker.
I feel that if Jermain moved to another club (Stoke have confirmed interest) he may get a similar contract, but will definately drop down the pecking order for the national side, as Crouch did after his move.
If he can manage to keep scoring then he will stay in the team either way, so really it is all down to him, no one stays in if they aren't playing...we all know that.
Come on you Spurs!
