Is it the supply or scoring that's the issue?

This prompted me to look into how many assists were notched up last season compared to the previous.

In the 2012-13 season we managed 45 assists compared to the 2011-12 season where we notched 47. Essentially that is only a drop of 2 assists, which is not bad, but we know that we can improve on this.

The top 4 teams managed the below;

Utd 60 assists

Arsenal 53 Assists

Chelsea 50 assists

Man City 44 assists

As you can see City failed on their assists this season, however the rest of the top 4 have done very well. Chelsea and City have already strengthened their squad dramatically and look to strengthen further as the transfer window progresses, so already the 2 teams that notched up the least assists have acted on where they have already seen their weaknesses. But again I am scratching my head as to why it is taking us so long to conclude some much needed business?

I agree that our team did not match my expectations in terms of statistics, but again we have to realise that this was a transitional period and still we managed our best points in our premier league history. So you would imagine that our team could do better next season.

We are all very much aware that we must obtain a good quality midfielder to gel the team and provide those much needed assists, but the likes of Lennon must also step up this season and really show his potential. Hopefully the coming world cup will be enough to encourage him and the likes of our other English contingent.
