Kaboul was supposed to be back in February, but has had to wait until today to finally make his come back! I cannot imagine that he has been pushed to come back sooner than he is ready (unlike other players), but I have wondered why a player quoted as ready in February has actually taken a further 2 months to make his first return? Either way I will be following up tongihts U21 game against West Ham to go into his much needed return.
Politics and so on aside I just can't wait for this to happen.
I had been happy with Vertonghen and Dawson at the back and when Vertonghen has had to move to the left I was reasonably happy for Caulker to play with Dawson.
Yesterday has raised several questions though and I am now unsure whether we can afford to play Jan on the left with Daws and Caulker in the middle? Dawson has always needed someone with more experience to raise his game to its full potential, so having Kaboul seemingly fit could not have come at a better time.
Kaboul was our most consistent defender last year and has been sorely missed. Now with him fit or there about’s I would expect to see him being introduced back into the team to partner Dawson in the middle, with Vertonghen and Walker on the wings. Being at such a crucial stage of the season we cannot force him back in, but his presence should at least give the other CB's a wake call that their place is not guaranteed. Let’s hope that he is match fit and not just his fitness is an acceptable level!
Importantly what are your thoughts? Should Younes partner Dawson with vertonghen and Walker on the wings? Will this sure up our defence or will it in fact be too much of change this late in the season?
