Return of forgotten stars as Bale shines

Bale stole the headlines again with an outstanding performance, but denied himself a hat trick again with a bad miss in front of an empty goal.

Scoring two almost identical free kicks gave Tottenham a good start against subdued looking Lyon.

Others may argue and say that Lyon played well, but I expected a lot more from the second positioned team in Ligue 1.

Although my opinion of Gareth is growing more positive with every game (as to whether he is currently the best player in the league) and he put in another great performance I am delighted to see many players come back into form.

Kyle Walker and William Gallas; I believe, played very well. Walker and Lennon linked up very well and Walker was unlucky not to receive an assist; when putting the ball into Bale's path with an empty goal in front of him. Gallas looked strong and seemed to be back to his form that helped us to our best league performances. Adebayor in whole did not have a great game, but I had seen some commitment to play (something that we have in fact been missing).

Although we conceded a goal to a strike from Umitti (which was against the run of play) I think that Lyon did not do themselves justice and if anything embarrassed themselves. Disgraceful acts of diving and attempts to get the oposition booked in my opinion is something that the club and Remi Garde should tackle and harshly. It was a shame and the one thing to spoilt my night.

There’s a good culmination of several things that are filling me with confidence with the team. Our defense is looking it’s strongest, the midfield was resilient and up front there are delightful glimpses (which seems to be growing).

Lyon will be our next game away followed by West Ham and I think we will be seeing out a winning month and another deserved Manager of the month for AVB and player of the month for Gareth bale.

The results have completely overshadowed the failure to land a striker and I for one hope that this continues for the rest of the season.
