The missing link

This missing link has been the one player that AVB had never wanted from the start, but you have to ask yourself why? Yes he can be a little childish in his behavior at times, however treat him right and all changes.

Under Tim Sherwood Adebayor has made a remarkable comeback into the squad. Initially just Defoe and Soldado were used as our “only” recognised strikers (after AVB childishly banished Ade to the youth team). 3 goals and one assist in 4 games under Sherwood has seen Ade grabbing the lime light once again. A spectacular volley against West Ham and one in similar style against Stoke (which was unfairly blocked by Shawcross). Both set up by Soldado I must highlight.

The two strikers work well together and I am certain that Ade has finally decided to give it his all in games. The player has been dropping deep, winning balls, carrying the ball forward and helping to create chances as the “supporting” striker.

This has helped Soldado dramatically. He can now stay around the box and slowly but surely more and more chances are coming to the striker.

The comeback by Ade has also given the team a new lease of life. They actually look like they want to attack and are now enjoying life once again at WHL.

At any stage Ade’s performances may drop again, but I do not see that it is in his best interests. At the age of 29 he can no longer keep demanding a huge wage and come the summer he will only have 1 year left on his contract. At the end of his contract he will be 31 and really he’s best off trying to get an extension with his current club.

Let’s hope that Ade continues this good run of form and that he continues to help Soldado find his feet in open play.
