AVB is a tactian. Seemginly coming out of the Abyss to achieve greatness with Porto, but we all know AVB's backgournd. He was born into football through the English game and then molded into shape by the special one so we really know what this guy is really all about. Heart, grit, guts and tactics.
Jose was a big tactian and played the greatest of mind games and AVB will show that he has learnt this too. Forget Chelsea as RA was too involved and it did not allow him to make his mark. Tactics are the biggest part of the game, thats why sometimes the underdog triumphs. People may feel this is a one off, but it happens often. Managers adopt the right tactics to get the best out of their players.
AVB has just come in, he is learning what he can get out of his players and how to do it. This is the same for the players, they are learning how to play within the new system and how to get the best out of themselves.
The Redknapp "just run about" tactics (which I feel is very unfair) worked, however AVB's tactics do run a lot deeper and would get the better consistancy. You cannot learn anything over night, you must learn it and then perfect it. People forget that when AVB left Chelsea they were still in the Champs league (not just by luck).
The players bought into the squad fit AVB's scheme. Dempsey will work both as a striker and support man (a cheap option, but replaces VDV's 12 goals a season and gives us another 5). Dembele is vagely a replacement for Modric, however he is more box to box and digging into the play (a different sort of creativity). Lloris although may not jump straight into the team today, he is going to make a great skeleton within the futureof the team over the next year and beyond.
So think about it guys, its just different. Good things do come to those who wait, but patience is a virtue.
Lloris, Dembele and Dempsey are all yet to figure together and they are all parts of the new look, so remember this as well guys and gals.
