Tottenham signing updates

Florian Thauvin and Andre Ayew of Marseille are both linked to Spurs, however both are in fact well documented trouble makers and given the track record at WHL with troubled players I would recommend to steer well clear.

For me neither of these players would make sense to waste a spot on. Both players have not set the world alight this season and I would not expect them to next, so why bother? With the rapid raise from Pritchard the left slot is well filled (especially if Spurs sign Mirallas). Through the middle Eriksen is key and would not lose his place, but with back up like Dembele and potential through our youth squad an acquisition in the middle would make no sense either. The right hand side is different though, Lamela likely to stay, but has stuttered in his second season. He could suddenly change and have a great season (following a season to adapt), but you must remember that both Lennon and Townsend are both likely to exit the lane (as part of the deals for Mirallas and Schneiderlin).

Signing Schneiderlin  would make complete sense. Bentaleb and Mason do not make a great partnership and are not experienced enough to fill the gap between the attacking midfield and the back 4. Although he would be a costly signing, he is proven talent and someone that MoPo knows exceptionally well.

The only other rumour of note is the same one that has been doing the rounds since his star performances launched him back into the limelight. Yes Lloris! There is so much rehashed rubbish about Man Utd and the Real Madrid merry-go-round that some muppets are beginning to believe it. Spurs cannot afford to lose Lloris at this stage. What must be done is 2 simple things.

1. Levy to pull his finger out and actually support MoPo now. No matter what is said the fact is that Levy has not supported MoPo to date and has not sanctioned a purchase from MoPo's shopping list. Spurs will likely finish 5th or 6th not bad for a season of transition. Now with the right players move on.

2. Deadwood needs to be shipped out to clear space for the much needed new talent (in defence and 1 up front).

These are essential to the progress of the club, but as always the board should not be trusted to do what is best for the club, but rather what is more profitable! I would like to see a change, but given the past experience of doing nothing to support the club in January highlights the main issue going forward (investment at the right time).
