It seems to be agreed across the board that Townsend seems set to sign a new contract worth £15k a week.
In realistic terms he is worth the increase in wages as he has continued to develop and show he can control games following his loan move to QPR and more recently his performance on Friday for England.
Some fans question this, but his performances have been speaking for themselves. Even against West Ham he played well (one of very few in fact).
The talent it seems was always there and this is why Redknapp took him to QPR (the only reason he didn't start under Redknapp was because of Lennon).
Given the chance to shine Andros had stepped up and never stepped back.
I congratulate the young man, in his persistency (9 loan moves and still not giving up his dream), confidence and bouncebackability (sorry I had to use it). Andros had a huge dark cloud hanging over his head following the betting "scandal", but he had the great idea of putting his head down and showed that it was a mistake that he will not repeat.
In all honesty I wish more of our players had the same mind set as him, Lennon and Walker can learn from him (always plastered across the tabloids for the wrong reasons and not fully committed to the club's cause).
Whether you wish to believe it or not the youngster has what it takes and will continue to improve. That is something that I would bet my money on.
