Contrary to recent reports that have linked Tottenham with a certain deal with Damiao, AVB dismissed the rumours. As always the issue was that there are several owners to Damiao and it is a difficult deal for any club.

However you now have to ask whether it is that the club is admitting defeat in landing another big name striker and following all the reports they wanted to calm the ever-growing snowball of media hype.

The simple facts are that we needed another striker in the summer and we need another one more so with Ade going out. Dempsey is not a striker but if he is being classed as that in the summer AVB said we have Ade, Defoe and Dempsey (we have 3 and thats enoguh). Now it seems with 1 less we still have enough?

It seems as always and I hope that I am wrong, but Levy is going to do the usual and not buy in who is needed and expect miracles from his manager (certainly is no sign of a chairman fully backing his manager). Come the end of the season if it doesn't work out he'll allow the manager and team to take the flack.

Either way this is what AVB said;

"Leandro is a player we've always appreciated, that this club appreciated before I arrived, but it's extremely difficult that he's going to join Tottenham. He's a player that is highly rated in the market, and it's unlikely that he will play for Tottenham."

You never know it could be more mind games from AVB and Co, but I have taste in my mouth I think we are being fed something brown and sticky and we are not going to spend the neccessary funds for the 5th season now. Not good for someone that is so smart Levy. I'll have my fingers crossed and hope that he doesn't let us down. I'd rather he tries and fails then not all.
