Why has it been left too late?

Although Levy receives a round of applause from me on the business front, he's kept Modric (great for the squad, but not sure about morale), bought in Vertonghen (great), Sigurdsson (not bad), but midfield is not the area of concern and far from it.

We now have under a week for our first game of the season and 2 of our acquisitions have had the time to settle and they seem to have fit in well. Looking at all of our results though we have not scored anywhere near enough goals or when we have its come from sources other than the strikers. This shows the big problem, as Adebayor scored a large number of our goals (and he's been replaced with no one!), on top of that we onle have 1 true striker left!

Levy is playing a very dangerous game in waiting and waiting to get a last minute deal, but look at last year, we lost Cahill to late dealings and if Levy manages not to get in world class strikers we will see (not may see) the end to our season before it even starts.

Adebayor has always been a matter of time, but with almost 2 weeks left before the closure you have to ask what is going through the chairman's head? This will then give us 2 strikers, enough? No, Harry kane may have just scored a hat-trick, but it was against Southend, he is not ready for regular playing time for the first team. We need 3 strikers that can do the job.

Then we come to the keepers position. Brad has yet to see a lengthy time out with injury, but if this were to happen would you be happy to rely on Gomes and Carlo? I won't be, Gomes has shown why PSV were in fact happy to let him go (then we get linked to another world class dropper in Cesar, NO THANK YOU) and Carlo has seen his best days, this is why the Lloris deal must be completed rapidly.

Once the Lloris and Adebayor deals are complete we can then push on for a final striker and wrap things up, although we could do with cover on the left and right of midfield (but that is more wishful thinking).

The final countdown has begun, the pressure is on and the fans our scratching their heads. Sources are banding many rumours about and after being told that Adebayor and Lloris were sure things I was happy, but with the time running down quickly I am getting concerned that we have again been let down. Either way we need to support the manager and the players we do have, but with the current squad a top 6 is our best hope (with other teams making many good acquisitions now looking in much better shape).
