Amazon Emerge as Latest Candidates to Buy Naming Rights for Tottenham's Stadium in £250m Deal

Amazon have emerged as the latest company interested in buying the naming rights to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy eyeing a lucrative £250m deal.

The 62,303-capacity stadium opened its doors in April 2019 following a long construction process which forced Spurs to play their home games at Wembley.

Spurs are looking to sell the naming rights for the stadium to help boost their revenue with several high-profile companies previously touted with a potential deal, including current kit manufacturer Nike.

But according to the Daily Mail, it's now tech company Amazon that are most interested in striking up a deal, with Levy hopeful of securing a £25m-a-year contract that would be in place for 10 years.

Amazon are already involved with Tottenham as they continue filming the documentary series 'All or Nothing'; a behind the scenes programme documenting the trials and tribulations of the club over the course of the campaign.

However, filming has been put on hold due to the severity of the coronavirus outbreak.

As a result of the unknown financial ramifications of the pandemic, Levy is uncertain on whether or not Spurs will be able to negotiate such a deal for the stadium naming rights.

Tottenham's growing popularity, largely due to their recent exploits in the Premier League and Champions League, makes owning the stadium naming rights a desirable prospect, with most people the ground as the most impressive in England.

Levy had recently made headlines for all the wrong reasons following Spurs' decision to furlough non-playing staff - a government scheme put in place to help small to medium-sized businesses - but Tottenham have since decided against the idea and will pay all non-playing staff in full.

The stadium is currently being used by the NHS to treat patients of the North Middlesex Hospital's Women's Outpatient Services.
