At the end of last season Martin Jol blamed a poor run of results around Christmas time for a ninth placed finish.
After the 3-1 loss at Newcastle United a week ago, Jol's assistant Chris Hughton said: "So far, it has been a good season league-wise. One thing we have done this season is to be able to bounce back from bad results."
Ledley King returned after a one game absence, but Anthony Gardner's run in the side was extended against Manchester City courtesy of Michael Dawson's red card seven days ago.
"I think anyone who has played as regularly as Ledley has, is missed," added Hughton.
