Bayern Munich director cools talk of Harry Kane plan for 2023

Bayern Munich director Hasan Salihamidzic has insisted the club are not working behind the scenes to sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane next summer.

The Bundesliga giants openly flirted with Kane this summer, much to the frustration of Antonio Conte, and reports in Germany have claimed they are trying to convince the striker to reject Tottenham's offer of a new contract and allow his current deal to run down.

Kane's contract expires in 2024 and, per reports, Bayern believe they would able to sign him in 2023 if he only has one year remaining.

Those claims were put to Salihamidzic on Tuesday, and the director was having none of it.

"I don't think Oliver Kahn [Bayern CEO] is pushing for a signature from [Kane]," he told Philipp Kessler. "You can all take a step back there, there's nothing to it."

90min understands that Kane and Tottenham have a mutual interest in discussing a new contract, although neither party is in any real rush to open negotiations.

Kane is understood to be happy with life under Conte and was impressed by the club's commitment to their manager in this summer's transfer market, in which significant money was spent to recruit Richarlison, Cristian Romero, Yves Bissouma, Destiny Udogie, Djed Spence, Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster on permanent deals. Clement Lenglet also joined on loan from Barcelona.
