Tottenham expect defender Ben Davies to be fit to face Newcastle United on April 3 despite the Welshman's withdrawal from international duty.
The left-back, who has been more of a central defender since Antonio Conte's arrival, returned to Spurs with tightness in his quad after Wales agreed to release him early.
Davies played 90 minutes as Rob Page's side saw off Austria to book a place in their World Cup playoff final, but that fixture has been postponed because the other semi-final, Scotland vs Ukraine, has been pushed back to June.
Instead, Wales have a friendly against the Czech Republic to look forward to, and with that game significantly less important, the decision was made to release Davies early to avoid taking any unnecessary risk.
According to The Athletic, that extra rest should be enough to ensure that Davies does not actually need to miss any game time.
Davies will get the chance to recover with his club and is expected to be in Conte's starting lineup for the visit of Newcastle, with Spurs looking to keep up with Arsenal in the race for Champions League qualification.
He should start alongside Cristian Romero, who has endured the most pointless international break possible after being called up to the Argentina squad despite being suspended.
The Argentine FA called Romero up in the hope that they would be able to get his ban overturned, but FIFA have since confirmed that the defender must serve the second of his two-game ban, meaning he will not play at all during this current break.
