Darren Bent may miss the rest of the season after suffering a medial ligament injury.

The striker suffered the problem with his left knee in Saturday's 5-2 defeat by Manchester United and is likely to be out for at least two weeks.

Following the scans this week the 25-year-old has been instructed to wear a knee brace for a fortnight before specialists make a further assessment.

Bent has scored 17 goals this season despite struggling to hold down a starting place in the side.

Jermain Defoe is likely to partner Robbie Keane during Saturday's home match against West Brom.
