Bentley - pure speculation or is he set for Spurs switch?

Rumours are circulating among Tottenham fans on the web that the club has agreed a deal to sign David Bentley from Blackburn. At the moment the news is very much a case of 'I've been told by a very reliable source that he has signed' and 'I've just heard it on Talk Sport' but the rumours come during a day when speculation mounted that the club had become the England stars favoured destination. Despite suggestions to the contrary, Juande Ramos does not have to move players on in order to continue to swell the ranks at White Hart Lane. The addition of Luka Modric and Giovanni Dos Santos appears to be just the beginning of his summer transformation, with Bentley known to be in his thoughts. The England winger is to be keen to follow Mark Hughes out of Ewood Park but instead of joining up with his former boss at Man City, Bentley is said to prefer a move to London. It had been first thought that he was looking for Champions League football but as we can only offer him the Uefa Cup it appears he may have lowered his ambitions. The purchase of Bentley would call into question the future of Aaron Lennon at the club, with Ramos having grown tired of his erratic crossing and worrying ineffectiveness. At the moment however the speculation surrounding Bentley is just that - speculation. Fans are advised to wait for an announcement on the official site before getting overly excited (or disappointed, depending on your viewpoint). The suggestion has also been made that the Blackburn winger could also be joined at White Hart Lane by Lassana Diarra and Real Madrid's Ruud Van Nistelrooy which seems about as likely as Christian Gross finding another ticket to N17 and replacing Ramos as head coach.
