Carlo Ancelotti worried by Chelsea ahead of Tottenham clash

Chelsea's 1-0 loss in Marseille last night did not stop them qualifying as Group F winners but will eat away at their broken confidence.

'This was a good opportunity to move out of this bad period,' said Ancelotti, who seemed downbeat and gloomy as he spoke after the match. 'We lost this opportunity because we didn't win and we didn't play so well.

Much to ponder: Carlo Ancelotti had hoped the Marseille match would prove to be a springboard for the rest of the season

'We have to keep going and look forward. We have another great opportunity against Tottenham, a difficult game away against a top team and now everyone thinks we will lose that game.

'We have a lot of players with fantastic character and personality. I'm not low. I'm strong. I want to resolve this problem quickly. I'm focused on my job. My players have the same focus.'

Chelsea have now won just twice in eight games and scored just fivetimes in that run. Ancelotti added: 'I'd like the team to move onquickly from this moment. We have lost some confidence.

'Defensively I thought we did well but we could do better in front. We don't have to lose composure. This is not the lowest, that wasagainst Sunderland, and the second half against Everton.'

Out: Jose Bosingwa sustained an injury which rules him out of the Tottenham clash this weekend

Jose Bosingwa is out of the Spurs game after injuring his hamstring last night.

'Bosingwa has a hamstring problem, so he's not available for the next game. Frank trained today and had a good session,' said Ancelotti. 'We'll take a decision in the next two days. He'll train with us.'

Marseille coach Didier Deschamps was delighted to have beaten Chelsea even though there was nothing but pride to play for.

'I am very happy for Brandao and for my team as well,' said Deschamps.'I wanted my players to win. It was good for the fans to beat Chelseaalthough it does not mean anything, it was nice to beat them. When youplay such games without pressure, you still want to get the resultbecause of the opposing team.

One up: Marseille boss Didier Deschamps was full of praise for his former club

'A team like Chelsea is programmed to win the Champions League, we are not but we want to go as far as we can. Maybe we will have a little bit of luck in the draw. Whoever we get it will be a difficult game.

'Chelsea are not having a successful spell at the moment. Maybe it was a good time to play them tonight. In February they will be a totally different team.'

In further troubled scenes, Chelsea fans were pelted with objects by Marseille fans and responded by trying to pull down the wire fence segregating the supporters. Florent Malouda had earlier been targeted by lasers as he took corners in the same area.
