Martin Jol revealed how he had to ask Pascal Chimbonda to stay on the pitch after the full back was on the receiving end of a nasty tackle from Frank Lampard.
The Spurs boss said: "Chimbonda injured his medial ligament but I had no defenders (on the bench) so he said 'okay', played on and was one of the best players. That was evidence of our spirit and character."
