Danny Rose Arrested Following Car Crash

Tottenham left-back Danny Rose was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning after he was involved in a car accident in Northampton.

On the field, the 2020/21 season has not been kind to Rose, who is yet to make a matchday squad for Jose Mourinho's side and has been frozen out ahead of the expiry of his contract at the end of the campaign.

Things have now gone from bad to worse for Rose as The Sun note he was taken into police custody after being found to have crashed his car into a central reservation at 4am on Wednesday morning.

“We can confirm a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving on the A45 in Northampton shortly after 4am," a police statement read.

“The suspect is currently being held at a police station in the county and, as such, it would be inappropriate for Northamptonshire Police to comment further at this time.”

Witnesses say Rose's car was left with just three wheels, while the bumper was also hanging off, and one source claimed the left-back was 'lucky to be alive'. Fortunately, he emerged without any serious injuries.

Rose was breathalysed at the scene and was not found to be under the influence of alcohol, but he was closely examined by police medical officers who arrested him after growing concerned about his condition.

It is not yet clear why Rose was near Northampton, although the scene of the crash is close to the M1 motorway which the left-back is known to use regularly to travel up from London to see his family in Doncaster.

Rose has spent time training on his own after being told he was free to leave Spurs by Mourinho, who has urged the left-back to seek a move away once the January transfer window opens.

There is yet to be any concrete interest in the former England international, who spent the second half of last season on loan with Newcastle. A summer move to Genoa fell through, but Championship side Middlesbrough have been touted as suitors in January.
