The Spurs centre-back will fly out to South SAfrica on Friday evening to meet up with the England squad having been named as a replacemnet for Rio Ferdinand who picked up an ankle injury during training and has been ruled out of the tournament which gets underway on 11th June.
Dawson had been amongst the 30-man provisional squad named by England coach Fabio Capello but failed to make the 23-man squad that flew to South Africa on Wednesday.
