Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Djed Spence has joined Rennes on loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.
The right-back signed for Spurs back in the summer from Middlesbrough after playing a key role on loan at Nottingham Forest during their promotion-winning 2021/22 campaign.
However, the writing appeared to be on the wall for the youngster soon after he arrived, with head coach Antonio Conte continually claiming he was a 'club signing'.
Spence has only played 41 minutes in a Tottenham shirt and the north London club granted him permission to leave on a straight loan this month.
While several Premier League sides were interested in a deal, Spence instead opted to join French side Rennes, who also have Spurs centre-back Joe Rodon on loan.
Spence's loan to Rennes does not include a purchase clause and he is set to return to Tottenham in the summer.
Meanwhile, Tottenham will confirm the signing of Pedro Porro later on deadline day, while fellow right-back Matt Doherty will join Atletico Madrid on loan.
Listen now as Scott Saunders hosts Graeme Bailey and Toby Cudworth to discuss why Joao Cancelo looks set to join Bayern Munich on loan from Man City, Arsenal's ongoing pursuit of Moises Caicedo & the futures of Pedro Porro, Enzo Fernandez, Youri Tielemans and more.
